Mystical "Lost in Elysium" Photo Shoot of Simon Gao’s Latest Line
By Shake it up
In a playful, mystical, ethereal story, photographer Teresa Yeh unveiled a line of designer Simon Gao in very compelling and memorable fashion, with a collection named "Lost in Elysium."
Using light, mist and shadow as a tool, Yeh captured model Nina Pavlynuk in a variety of poses showcasing the latest creations of Gao, which were lightweight, capturing a hint of fantasy and dreaminess with them.
Tying in the fashion line with being lost in a dreamy, fantasy world was very effective, and generates a strong connection between the clothing and feeling expected to be received when wearing them. It works well.
Photographers and designers continue to stretch the bounds of creativity in showing off their art and fashion, and as in this case, create an amazing visual story capturing the imagination of those interested in donning the creations.
Nina Pavlynuk
Starting off the collection is model Nina Pavlynuk sitting in a field of flowers. The violet, white and touch of green in the flowers looks fantastic, and the blurred trees on the left contrasting with the more solid trees on the right help show the unique world she is in. The outfit showcased works great in that visual setting.
Sitting in Flowers
The filmy outfit shown here works well with the imaginary, fantasy world created. The tree limbs with flowers appear as a frame for the model displaying the outfit. Works nice.
Filmy Black and White Outfit
The next several photos are a terrific example of fashion and art meeting, as the mythical aspect of the fantasy is really explored. Here I almost get the feeling she is a denison of the fantasy world being discovered by an unexpected visitor. The dark colors with that touch of light on her face looks really good.
Fashion and Art Meet
The difference between this photo including blossoms as part of the story is telling, when comparing it to the black and white photo above. The black and white has more of a whimsical feel, while the one below has a little touch of darkness to it. I like how the outfit meshes with the environment.
In the Midst of Blossoms
Being a sucker for mist, when it's including with the fantasy setting like it is below, it's a very enjoyable image to look at. This is where the light, shadow and mist work together so well. Another nice outcome is the new top showcased by the model, which blends with the overall fell of the scene.
Misty Scene
In the end, the fawn-like female is turning around from the encounter and heading back deeper into the fantasy, something the photographer is sure to have had on her mind when creating the work. The hands of the model stretched out add to the end of the story.
Going Back to Her World
It's always amazing to me to see how creative people can take props and tools like light, mist, and in this case, cherry blossoms, to not only showcase and enhance a fashion line, but generate a story which a woman can see herself part of. That of course is all connected to the fashion itself, which by extension and on purpose, is seen as a catalyst for this experience.
