Vintage Movie Posters
72Retro Movie Posters
Movie posters from yesteryear are highly sought after by collectors, and for good reason, they look fantastic, and it is buying a piece of history and the youthful days of going to the picture show.
They bring back memories of simple times and of moments when the actors seemed to be bigger than life.
From the point of view of the art, they were extraordinary in the color and design, and capture a unique look that stimulates the imagination.
In the end, vintage posters are just cool, and to find them in good shape with the color still vibrant is a collectors dream.
I hope you enjoy looking at this movie history as much as I have.
Westerns to Horror Movie Posters
The vintage posters I've included cover a range of movie themes, including Western, Horror and spy films.
All of them will be very recognizable to most people, and represent a wide range of stars and starlets from the golden age of Hollywood and on.
Vintage Frankenstein Movie Poster
In this first vintage movie poster you have one of the most rare posters in the world. At my latest count there were only five known to be left in the world. I'm not sure if that has changed, but there will never be that many ever found, even if there are a few hidden away in some dusty attic or closet somewhere.
It's amazing to see the great Boris Karloff mentioned on the poster, who was one of the well known horror actors of that era.
Classic Casablanca Movie Poster
What can you say about this movie poster representing one of the most beloved films and actors of all time: Casablanca and Humphrey Bogart.
Swedish bombshell Ingrid Bergman isn't exactly hard to look at either. Great poster from a classic film.
Poster of Marilyn Monroe in Bus Stop
I actually wrote "Marilyn Monroe in Bust Stop" in the subtitle above. I guess my eyes were focused on a certain part of the poster:-).
Anything poster with Marilyn on it from that time period is highly desirable and collectible, and there is no explanation needed to explain that. The classic Marilyn look with her face, as well as the picture of her turning her head to gaze while her body is facing away, is vintage Monroe. I want one of those ... posters I mean. Ahem.
John Wayne on Vintage "New Frontier" Poster
John Wayne starred in the "New Frontier," and is definitely the star of this poster as well. I like the way they make him colorful to stand out while others in the film are displayed below the acting giant, apparently to pay homage to the popular actor.
Sean Connery on "Dr. No" Movie Poster
This is the first James Bond film, which starred the magnificent Sean Connery as 007. The yellow background of the poster is very attractive.
And speaking of attractive, it wasn't fair to all the young males of that time period to have gorgeous Ursula Andress looking like she did as the leading Bond girl.
Who can forget here coming out of the sea in the film. Great poster.
Vintage Movie Poster as Art
All of these vintage movie posters, and others like them, are always a wonderful reminder of days gone by, but they are also, in my opinion, fantastic pieces of art. When you look at the colors included in these posters, they are vibrant and visually vivid and attractive, making them terrific works of art. That's why they continue to be so sought after by those wanting to own a piece of cinema and art history.
