Gothic Piercings

Like many things that are Gothic, piercings aren't that different from those getting piercings who aren't Goths. What's different is the overall look which accompanies the piercing.

That's the same with Gothic rings, umbrellas, shoes and dresses, among numerous other clothing and accessory choices.

Now there are exception to that general reality, for example, with an ear piercing which would include what would be considered by the recipient as a Gothic accessory.

There are also some piercings which are way out there, which include a Gothic look, but that could be expressed in other types of subcultures as well.

In other words, if you're a Goth, what you do or wear is considered Gothic, even if others may do something similar that aren't Goths. Piercings are included in that reality.

So it's the lifestyle, reason behind it and overall look that makes a piercing Goth, not simply the piercing itself.

This first photo of a Gothic piercing is a good example of what was mentioned above. It's a simple stud in the lip, but the fact it's a Goth woman makes it a Goth piercing, even though the piercing itself isn't different than anyone else would have.

There's no mistaking these numerous piercings by this Gothic woman. There's almost as much metal as you would get with metal braces from the dentist.

What an outrageous and bold nose piercing here by this Gothic young man. I bet that didn't feel too good going in the first time. Ouch! Those ear piercings are pretty over the top as well. Did you notice the stud below his nose and coming out of his mouth? It's easy to miss because of the larger piece.

This dragon ear piece captured my attention when I saw it, as to me it looks great and is a fantastic work of art. Nice the way it wraps around and through the ear lobe. The point at the top is also very cool.

This is an amazing array of piercings around the eyes of this woman. Interesting to have the studs in the eyebrows, and also interesting that the eyebrows are bushier than most; something that is coming back among some women. Another observation is the bright light is needed to really be able to see and appreciate the piercings, implying they wouldn't be seen easily in normal light.

What I like about the piercings below are the way it is designed. All of them are placed in a way that helps them play off one another. They appear symmetrical and flow down her face, designed to complement, rather than interfere with one another. That's contrary to the woman near the top which has them all over the place.

It's good, in my opinion, to show several types of piercings to give someone an idea of what you can do, and the options out there. In the case of the woman below, the piercings are far more subtle and benign, but still work together nicely. Not everything has to be loud to be effective.

The Gothic piercings below are somewhat between the really wild placements and those carefully constructed. Of course the person being pierced is the one deciding what they want, so if they're happy, that's mostly what matters, depending on the reason for being pierced in the first place. This is a cute and different Gothic look, but the piercings seem to get in the way of it some, especially those directly in the lip.

This is one of the more radical Gothic piercings one of a corset of studs on the arm. It looks painful, but obviously was just completed, and so didn't have time to heal as of when the photo was taken. I wonder if it'll look as distinct when most of the red is gone?

As you can see, with Gothic piercings it's not too much different than other piercings. You have some that include only a mere stud, to those loud and obtrusive to the viewer. Some are ornamental and add to the person's look, while others are meant to shock and disturb.
