Couples and Matching Tattoos

Couples and Matching Tattoos

Life has taught many of us that love is blind, and when it comes to tattoos, nothing has changed, as some couples get tattooed together in order to show their "undying" and "permanent" love for one another.

Most times the tattoos are matching or complimentary tattoos, which start on one of the people and continue on to the other to complete the image.

There are some that are wiser in this endeavor, as they will place somewhat neutral themes like a heart or a cross, that could be included in a new relationship if the current one doesn't end up lasting.

Another thing that could be considered if contemplating a tattoo as a couple, is doing them smaller and in possibly less conspicuous places.

If you choose the right theme it isn't as important in that regard, as it can also be showcased as a standalone tattoo.

Hopefully most reading this won't fall for the romantic but naive notion the relationship will last forever, at least when putting permanent ink on your bodies together.

Matching Heart Tattoos

This first example of matching couple tattoos is one that would be a good decision to make, as it could apply in a variety of circumstance if your relationshop breaks up. It could be defined as love for anyone. For example, a son, daughter, mom, dad, etc. In other words, you have a fall back option with these.

Matching Cross Tattoos

Here's another example of a good choice with matching tattoos, as they are good as a standalone tattoo, and could signify something personal, such as the Christian cross.

More Troublesome Matching Tattoo

Here is an example of a matching tattoo that transfers from one person to another. That creates a problem, assuming the tattoos below are only partially completed on each person's arm. If both are complete, and are only being displayed as two halves, than it's not as bad.

Phrase Tattoos

I like these two tattoos below because they're able to be seen and enjoyed via the saying itself. They're great because they can also be included as a continuation as well. Again, that's wiser than putting them together in a way that they're inseparable.

Key, Lock, Heart Tattoo

These are a fun and compelling way to express your love towards one another, while at the same time being able to enjoy the tattoo individually. Both can tell a current or past story, and also offer hope for the future.

For example, in the case of the locked heart, a story could be told of a failed love or that you're looking for someone with the key to your heart.

Dragon Matching Tattoos

I really like these matching dragon tattoos. They look fantastic, are placed in a relatively quiet area, and work as a matching or individual tattoo for each person.

Tattoos of Eyes

These eyes tattoos are awesome to be no matter why they were chosen by the couple. Interesting that they need to hug to be able to show the tattoos in a side-by-side manner. If they were walking together the tattoos would be facing in the opposite direction.

Matching Strawberry Tattoos

While I like the quality of the strawberry tattoos below, it's a little off to me as to the placement, as well as the dripping factor. A dripping strawberry tattoo down the middle of the back must mean something to the couple, as it's somewhat of an odd choice.

Toaster Tattoos

Here's another one of those tattoo decisions that leave you scratching your head as to the why of it.

This is the only toaster tattoo I've ever seen, and to have it inked on as a matching tattoo for a couple is fascinating indeed. Maybe it represents their favorite time of the day: breakfast, or an inside joke in their relationship.

So there's a wide array of tattoos that couples or people decided to have inked on them; most in as matching or continuous tattoos.

Just remember to consider the probability of your relationship lasting when making decisions you may eventually be sorry for.

In these cases it's best to include a tattoo theme that works together or by itself.

These tattoos seem to be better choices then getting your boyfriend or girlfriend's name permanently inked on your body. For me, anyway, I still think that a tattoo like these would be too much of a reminder if the relationship didn't work out. This was a very interesting hub; I voted it up and useful!

I dont believe in getting a tattoo with your partner, even the couple stays together they will most likely regret what they permenantly inked on themselves.

I really don't care for tattoo's at all but a toaster would not be my choice if I were to change my mind...Nice informative Hub and very nice pictures. Great job!

The dripping strawberries are taken from the movie across the universe. specifically when they are singing the song strawberry fields forever .

Interesting hub.

Ebower: from your comments here and elsewhere, I think you'd agree it's principally something that revolves around the one individual.

Naomi's Banner: 're change my mind', yes, it does happen, believe me!

I really think it's sweet when couples get matching tattoos, I would rather get a matching tattoo with my partner anyday than get his name on my body or mine on his.

The Toasters are totally awesome haha!
